Report Writer (RW) is a Web-based application for generating ad-hoc and scheduled reports of financial, HR, health care and medical data. Through its user-friendly Web interface, Report Writer allows users to dynamically query and export data in different formats. Users can generate output immediately, save report settings for a future private or public use or generate a report on a schedule.
The RW works with multiple domain databases and can be a simple gateway for internal and external users to get data from complex databases with complex custom reports. The RW can be easily integrated with existing IT architecture for single sign-on and security restrictions as well as customized to present a client- or project-specific user interface. The RW can be also integrated with statistical packages like SAS for producing statistical output.

Report Writer is capable of producing simple reports consisting of a handful of fields and complex reports joining fields from several tables with complex relationships and filtered through several criteria. Report Writer works with multiple domain databases and a single domain database can consist of hundreds or thousands of fields united into functional categories for ease of use. Users may apply grouping and sorting criteria to reports. Report Writer also contains advanced chart capabilities to display the data in truly meaningful ways. Results can be displayed as on-screen tables, forms or printable reports. Results can also be exported to many formats such as Word, Excel, PDF, HTML, XML or plain text. "Custom Criteria" reports allow users to generate reports based on imported criteria such as a list of social security numbers. Without this, users would need to input each SSN manually. The “Custom Output” feature gives users the ability to export data to any format. For example, a Word document with dropdown text and merge fields.

Report Writer’s Scheduler allows users to schedule a single or recurring report operation and send results in any format to a list of subscribers via email, either as a link or an attachment. Users may also send the results of a report to a valid email address at any time.
