InfoPro Systems, Inc. (InfoPro) is a small business specializing in design and implementation of electronic surveys that collect and process questionnaires, statistical and clinical and research medical science data. InfoPro team has 20 years of experience designing and developing metadata-driven solutions for large-scale survey data collection projects including the National Children’s Study (NCS) conducted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD); the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS); and the Criminal Justice – Drug Abuse Treatment Studies (CJ-DATS) conducted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).

Since its inception in 1996, InfoPro has delivered a series of large-scale survey solutions for national health studies. Our most recent product is the Data Collection Application Suite (DCAS), a Government-of-the-shelf (GOTS) open source solution that has been used to support data collection for the National Children’s Study (NCS) - a large-scale national health study.  DCAS is available at no-cost or run-time fees (including the full source code) for both Government agencies and commercial organizations and can be tailored to the specific needs of the project.  InfoPro is on the General Services Administration (GSA) Information Technology (IT) Schedule 70 contract vehicle.

InfoPro pioneered the design for comprehensive metadata-driven survey architecture while working under a contract with CDC/NCHS for the NHANES study. This design was further refined in the Community HANES Information Technology Architecture (CHITA), a CDC/NCHS government-off-the-shelf (GOTS) set of applications used by CDC/NCHS on the New York City (NYC) HANES study from 2004-2005. From 2005 to 2010, InfoPro extended CHITA to support NHANES data collection, data management, and delivery.

In 2005, CHITA was adopted as the data collection platform for the NCS. In 2010, InfoPro significantly enhanced CHITA and transformed it into the Data Collection Application Suite (DCAS), a NIH/NICHD GOTS toolset for survey authoring, data collection, data management and data delivery. The cornerstone of DCAS is its ability to allow non-technical personnel (business analysts or content developers) to create sophisticated data collection instruments for general purposes, patient’s questionnaires as well as patient’s measurement instruments often integrated with bio-medical equipment) using the InfoPro designed and developed Metadata Editor (MDE) authoring tool. DCAS has been used in production for about 10 years to successfully implement more than 300 data collection instruments in multiple modes to collect survey data. DCAS allows the creation of high quality data collection instruments that require minimum post-collection data cleaning as data quality is enforced during data collection process.  This process uses a metadata driven dynamically generated content and layouts, formats and ranges validations, instrument flow enforcement and smart data reconsolidation.
